Sofia Ellar - portrait and her new song

Sofia Ellar, born 1993 in London (UK), based in Madrid (Spain), published her new single “Bañarnos en Vaqueros” (bathing in jeans) two months ago on march, 15th. She’s raised bilingual, speaking Spanish and English at home. Later, when she already lived in Spain, she decided to study business administration. As music was always part of her life, starting to play the guitar at the age of 12 and composing already aged 13, she decided to open an Instagram account for her music. When she realized, that there was a crowd supporting her, she also started a youtube channel where she uploaded covers and also some own compositions. For the project of graduation from university, she then decided very quickly, to start her own business, registering her own label “Sofia Ellar S.L.”, recording the first songs in a more or less professional studio and reserving little concertrooms all on her own. Also, as part of this project, she gave herself (as the label) the artistic name Sofia Ellar; Ellar as a composition of her both last name’s first letters (Lecubarri y Ruigómez), written the way it’s pronounced. Her popularity has grown really fast, she already counts on 260k followers on Instagram and could get many sold outs on her tours (even big, renominated places like Razzmatazz in Barcelona, attacking the big WiZink Center in Madrid this October). Therefor, she always thanks her fans and followers: “I guess without them I wouldn’t be here, I wouldn’t be there where I am now. My fans, my followers on Instagram were always close to me, they made me who I am and they are like a family for me.”, she said in many interviews. Related to the new single, she had another great idea: she sent 5 jeans to 5 different fans and made them passing in between the fans. Those should take a bath in them, give them a little tag somehow and later, Sofia is planning to do a concert including these jeans. “You are crazy. I love your ideas and that you’re always so close to us”, commented one fan below the first post of the draw for the jeans. The jeans also passed to London (UK) and New York (USA), which made her international fans happy. In an interview she revealed that she would be pleased making a tour bigger than just in Spain, but also informed that she is not planning anything bigger at the moment. In respect to her musical career, it would be another step further after releasing two albums in 2017 and 2018 and getting up on different music lists with her latest release, such as #1 on iTunes or “Novedades México” on Spotify. This year, she’s not giving concrete plans for her music. She gave little hints, some more music will surely come, as on June, 7th and maybe later another single, as she commented on twitter that she had four songs all done. She didn’t deny a new album but said in some interviews that she isn’t really sure about the way she will release the new songs, including talking about maybe releasing them as singles on an EP. What’s sure is that she’s going on tour this year, including big concerts and some festivals.
